Resonant Streams: An Ancient Call
Resonant Streams: An Ancient Call is a site-specific audience-interactive multimedia dance created for the Cathedral of Saint John the Divine in New York City that premiered on November 11, 2011. It features a cast of ten dancers, three live musicians, two multimedia artists creating virtual sets and costumes and guest appearances by visionary Continuum Movement founder Emilie Conrad and noted author, storyteller and African spiritual leader Luisah Teish. Resonant Streams offers an experience of ourselves as water, of our interconnectedness to all water everywhere, and of our origins in the ancient primordial seas. As we as fluid systems immerse ourselves in water, we are able to release and recreate our form responsively as we connect through resonance to each other, to our ancient roots, to our planet and beyond and to creative potential.
It is possible to customize this piece for other spaces around the world and to involve local community in a Sound and Movement Choir workshop that offers a way to participate in the performance in a simple and deep way.
Feedback from the performances at the Cathedral:
"Your energy, LiquidBody Dance, Emily Conrad's presence, the exquisite musicianship and visuals made the production of Resonant Streams: An Ancient Call about the Value of Water a truly wonderful experience. It brought my friend to tears. So moving… literally and figuratively. "
